TRS have recently expanded its offer to the NZ mining sector with the addition of RUD Tyre Protection Chains.

1 September, 2015

Large mines are heavily reliant on a range of heavy wheeled equipment to extract and cart materials and every hour they are out of service adds hugely to the running costs. The severe conditions these large machines operate in take their toll on large and expensive earthmover tyres.

RUD Tyre Protection Chains are a flexible mesh of specially-designed, interlocking rings and links of varying size and density. The heavy-duty 19mm mid-rings of the chain are manufactured from case-hardened quality alloy steel plus forged wear links, with a ‘rhomboid’ profile to provide maximum protection, traction and depth of case hardness. These links have a high wear volume, and are ideally suited to typical hard rock working conditions, where the material is tough and abrasive and traveling distances are long. The pattern is a 4-link style with extra wide centre net and deep sidewall sections to provide maximum protection to both the tyre tread area and sidewalls.

The chains wrap around the tread and sidewalls of all types and sizes of earthmover tyres forming a barrier between the tyre and the surface and thus protecting them from abrasion, piercing and intense heat, extending tyre life by as much as five times and providing additional traction and operational safety without affecting the flexibility and function of the tyre.

The introduction of RUD chains compliment the large OTR tyre & wheel equipment already offered by TRS. Long established as a manufacturer of agricultural wheels, TRS have expanded to include the repair and supply of wheels and related services to the mining and other heavy wheel segments.  Services include crack testing to Australian standards, a vital safety criterion when replacing mining tyres or operating mining equipment in hazardous environments. TRS can either repair wheels where fatigue cracks are found or offer high quality replacement wheels equivalent to or better specification than original equipment.  Wheels are available in a wide range of sizes and configurations from 25 inches up to 63 inches in diameter and widths of up to 52 inches.
