Michelin Bibload Hard Surface

11 August, 2016

Working on hard surfaces such as asphalt or concrete will wear tyres out quicker than soft or loose surfaces such as sand or grass. Advances in tyre technology use design and construction features to combat the issue of wear and increase tyre life.

The MICHELIN Bibload Hard Surface is an expansion of the Compact Line range offering a specialised option for end users who work mainly on hard surfaces with compact loaders and telescopic equipment. This new tread design is non-directional and optimised to provide superior tread life when used in hard surface applications, resisting wear & tear more effectively.

The Bibload Hard Surface has been designed for asphalt and other solid surface applications in agricultural and construction and offers radial construction with steel belts and reinforced casing for puncture resistance. It is designed to carry out a large number of lateral, longitudinal and transversal movements on hard, wet and even snow-covered surfaces.

The radial carcass design provides a level of driver comfort and overall machine stability from its larger footprint, flexibility and strength that a bias-ply alternative cannot offer. The improved manoeuvrability also contributes to reduced fatigue for both the driver & the machine itself and therefore reduced operating costs. Another advantage of radial construction is a lower inflation pressure resulting in lower rolling resistance and fuel consumption.

With its patented tread, the Michelin Bibload Hard Surface is the first tyre with diamond-shaped tread blocks made up of bevelled facets. Offering six different grip angles, these progressive facets make the block more rigid regardless of the tread depth. The new tread design also includes sipes which increase the amount of biting edges on the tire and facilitate the evacuation of mud.

“Each diamond-shaped tread block has seven sides and 12 distinct bevelled edges; giving it a very different appearance to traditional telehandlers’ tyres. The net result is a product with unmatched performance on the market, providing better traction, stability, comfort, damage resistance and a longer service life” says Andrew Gillam, Sales & Marketing Manager for TRS Tyre & Wheel Ltd.
